Hands of Mothers Benefit Concert and Champagne Brunch Featuring Amy LaVere & Will Sexton

Spend a sizzling summer Sunday afternoon listening to hot music, drinking cold Bloody Marys and hanging with some cool people - all in the name of a great cause.

A local treasure, Amy LaVere has toured the world with releases like 2015's Hallelujah, I'm A Dreamer and 2014's Runaway's Diary. She sings with a sweet, haunting voice that can turn on a dime from innocent to lusty ("Norah Jones with an added Cyndi Lauper element" — Mojo Magazine). Whether playing as a duo with her husband Will Sexton or with retro-country sensation Motel Mirrors, she's an inventive, thoughtful singer-songwriter powerhouse who has crowds throughout the US and Europe smitten.

100% of the funds raised at this event will be used to educate and empower mothers and their daughters living with HIV in Rwanda. Educating women and girls lifts households, communities and nations out of poverty^. However, in Rwanda, girls in poor and vulnerable families suffer disproportionately. If a family has limited funds to pay school fees, the boys go to school and the girls stay home.

That's why Hands of Mothers has launched our newest initiative – Educate and Empower 100! Our goal is to provide literacy and entrepreneurship training to 50 mothers who are currently sex workers and fund school fees for 50 of their daughters.

This benefit will be a joyous celebration of our global community and the strength of women to overcome extraordinary obstacles. Memphis- based nonprofit Hands of Mothers creates economic opportunities for vulnerable women in Rwanda through education, business development and micro-lending.
