Hands of Mothers Benefit Concert and Bloody Mary Brunch

Spend a sizzling summer Sunday afternoon listening to hot music, drinking cold Bloody Marys and enjoying a full brunch - all in the name of a great cause!
Mark Edgar Stuart is one of Memphis’ most acclaimed singer-songwriters. In October 2018, he released his third album – ‘Mad at Love’. The 10-track effort finds Stuart looking outward for subjects and honoring his craft telling stories. For this special performance, Stuart will be accompanied by acclaimed saxophone player Art Edmaiston. Art’s talents have taken him around the world performing, recording and jamming with diverse music legends including the Allman Brothers Band, Justin Timberlake, Levon Helm, Snoog Dog, Lucero, the Coasters, the Bo-Keys and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
100% of the funds raised at this event will be used to educate and empower mothers and their daughters living with HIV in Rwanda. Educating women and girls lifts households, communities and nations out of poverty. However, in Rwanda, girls in poor and vulnerable families suffer disproportionately. If a family has limited funds to pay school fees, the boys go to school and the girls stay home. However, it is widely acknowledged that “Educating girls is a surefire way to raise economic productivity, lower infant and maternal mortality, improve nutritional status and health, reduce poverty, and wipe out HIV/AIDS and other diseases.”1
This benefit will be a joyous celebration of our global community and the strength of women to overcome extraordinary obstacles. Memphis- based nonprofit Hands of Mothers creates economic opportunities for vulnerable women in Rwanda through education, business development and micro-lending.
